2020 | The Whole World in His Hands

On New Year’s Day we celebrated the start of 2020.  Who could imagine what was ahead?

Even in a chaotic world, The Bible teaches that God not only has the whole world in His hands, but the entire universe is in His hands (Rev. 1).

New boy's dormJust as USA students were sent home during the pandemic, the students at the Staff of Hope school, Oloile Secondary School in Kenya, were also sent home.  The Staff of Hope ministry continues to move forward in East Africa.  We pay our teachers every month their full salary even while the school is closed.  In addition to this, Staff of Hope sends money monthly to help our friends with food purchases, medical care and other necessitates during this challenging time.  We have also sent money to support pastors in their ministry to their congregations.

In the Spring of 2020, Staff of Hope began construction on a new boy’s dorm that will hold 48 boys.  This dorm will allow proper social distancing and the possibility of increasing the number of boys attending our school in the future.  Building this dorm also created jobs for local workers.  The boys will enjoy a new boy’s bathroom which we will finish this month.

New boy's dormStaff of Hope continues to farm on our campus providing a healthy diet for our students and teachers.  Any vegetables grown that are not consumed at school, will be sold in the market to help the community while generating an income for Oloile.

Staff of Hope’s Oloile Secondary School is a four-year school that strives to maintain high academic standards, preparing our students for the future, while providing opportunities for them to grow in their Christian faith.  It is our hope that when they graduate (we have one of the highest graduation rates in the county) our students will have a strong foundation from computers to farming and English to Swahili, allowing them to grow and shine in the future.

Oloile Secondary has the largest computer lab in three counties.  Our laptops enable us to provide computer education and use to students from the rural areas who otherwise would never have a chance to experience this.

Staff of Hope is excited to celebrate Oloile’s growth to 165 students.  We believe a quality education is key to the success of a developing country.  We are thankful for your partnership in prayer and in your generous financial giving.
